Florence, 3 October (LaPresse) – "Is there a “political war” being waged by the CGIL trade union against the government? I believe that for some time now, the CGIL has been saying this explicitly, not a political war but, in short, a call for social revolt. As a government, we are satisfied that the issues being brought to the streets are not those of employment and economic issues, all of which are areas in which the government is achieving results that have not been seen for years and decades, including those of security and immigration. These are the classic issues that were once brought to the streets, but they are no longer the ones that cause conflict. Instead, it is Gaza, which is a very noble cause, of course'. This was stated by the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, today in Florence, speaking to journalists on the sidelines of Leopolda 13, where he responded to a question about the words of Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini. ‘I leave it to others to interpret, but not to define,’ the minister concluded.
