NBA Basketball: All-Star Game Changes Format, Becomes Four-Team Mini-Tournament

Milan, Dec 17 (LaPresse) – The NBA All-Star Game is changing its format, and starting this season, it will become an All-Star tournament. The league announced that it has finalized plans to introduce a new format for the upcoming midseason showcase in San Francisco.

The new format, revealed on Tuesday, will be a one-night tournament featuring four teams. Three games will be played between three squads of eight All-Stars each, with a fourth team being the winner of the Rising Stars challenge, which includes first- and second-year players.

The winning team in each game will be the first to score 40 points. The event is scheduled for February 16, 2025, at the home of the Golden State Warriors.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver had long sought a more competitive All-Star event, and this change follows last year’s record-breaking 397 total points scored (211-186 was the final score) during the game in Indianapolis.
