Milan, 27 April (LaPresse) – It was plain sailing for Fiorentina in the Tuscan derby against Empoli, valid for the 34th matchday of Serie A. Palladino's team, missing two key players in Kean and Dodô, won 2-1 with first-half goals from Adli and Mandragora. Three important points for the Viola, who temporarily join Juventus and Lazio in fifth place with 59 points in the fight for the Champions League. It is a dark night, however, for Empoli, whose goal by Fazzini was not enough to avoid remaining second from bottom with 25 points, alongside Venezia in the relegation zone. The match was already decided in the first half, with Palladino's team breaking the deadlock with a clever finish from Adli after a nice move that ended with Gudmundsson's through ball for the Frenchman, who made no mistake in front of Vasquez. The second goal was a masterpiece from Mandragora, who controlled a cross from Adli in the box and scored with a spectacular overhead kick. Empoli proudly got back into the game early in the second half with a fine goal from Fazzini, who beat De Gea from Goglichidze's assist. However, Fiorentina immediately regained control of the game, coming close to scoring a third goal on several occasions through Gudmundsson and Zaniolo. In the final minutes, however, De Gea made a great save to prevent Kovalenko from scoring a sensational goal from the edge of the box.
